In this audio I would like to discuss about what to do when we can't focus while listening. You know that if you want to deeply learn a language, you need to spend a lot of time with audios. This usually means to listen at least one hour every day.
What sometimes happens is after some minutes of listening, we don't pay attention to the audio because we are thinking about something else. We notice it and then we try to focus and be 100% concentrated. But again, we end up with a wandering mind.
Then, we feel guilty. We think we don't try hard enough. We think we should have more discipline. We attach negative emotions on listening to lessons.

That is not good.

Here's my suggestion:

About fresh material, try to pay attention. It's not so hard because it's something new.

However, with familiar material, which is content that we have listened to it several times, don't be hard with yourself. It's not important if you are not paying full attention, because the material is familiar, and our brains can process very well things already known.

So, here, what's important is to spend as much time as possible listening, and it's not so important to be 100% concentrated.

Just accumulate hours and let your brain to do the work in background.
It's like when you drive. When you are driving in a new place, you need to pay attention. You don't know anything. On the other hand, if you drive in a familiar place, you can be chatting and listening to music, or thinking what to have for dinner, and still, drive carefully and efficiently.
